# Deleting a Content Type

## Goal

Delete the unneeded content type _Article_.
## Prerequisite knowledge

## Site prerequisites

The _Article_ content type must exist. It is created on your site when you
install with the core Standard installation profile.
## Steps

1. In the _Manage_ administrative menu, navigate to _Structure_ > _Content
    types_ (_admin/structure/types_). The _Content types_ page appears.
1. Click _Delete_ in the _Operations_ dropdown button for the _Article_ content
    type. Note that the name of this content type is in English on this page;
    see [Concept: User Interface, Configuration, and Content translation](/link/695) for an explanation.

1. A confirmation page is displayed. Click _Delete_.

1. The _Content types_ page appears with a confirmation message saying that the
    content type has been deleted:
